Honouring 335 Years of Care
September 30th, 2025

On September 4, 2025, we had the joy of celebrating 39 of our Community Care Peterborough volunteers at the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards ceremony at the Healthy Planet Arena. Together, these incredible individuals represent more than 335 years of dedicated service—a milestone that speaks not only to commitment, but to the countless meals delivered, rides given, phone calls made, and moments of kindness shared.

While the event itself may have been simple, the pride in the room was unmistakable. For many, it was the first time their years of service were recognized in such a public way. Laughter, applause, and a few happy tears reminded us all that behind every certificate is a story of friendships formed and lives touched.

“These awards highlight the heart of Community Care,” said Danielle Belair, CEO. “When you add up the decades of service represented in that room, it’s clear our volunteers are sustaining a tradition of neighbour-to-neighbour care that continues to shape and strengthen our communities.”

For Andrea Dunkley, Volunteer Relations Coordinator, the evening was especially meaningful: “What inspires me most is how selflessly our volunteers show up for others—day after day, year after year. Their eagerness to serve is what makes Community Care such a welcoming and trusted place.”

We are deeply grateful to each of the 39 volunteers who were honoured this year. You remind us that while programs and services may change, the heart of what we do remains the same: people caring for people.
