Record-Setting 4th Annual Gary Dalliday Memorial “Caring for Our Communities” Golf Tournament
August 20th, 2025

Tournament Raises $20,000 for Meals on Wheels in Peterborough and Area

With abundant sunshine and mild temperatures providing a perfect backdrop, the 4th Annual Gary Dalliday Memorial Caring for Our Communities Golf Tournament welcomed a sold-out field of 100 golfers to the Peterborough Golf and Country Club on Monday, August 18, 2025. The event raised a record-setting $20,000 in support of Community Care Peterborough’s Meals on Wheels programs in Peterborough, Chemung/Ennismore, Buckhorn, and Curve Lake First Nation.

The tournament, held on the seventh anniversary of Gary’s funeral, brought together family, friends, and community members to honour his legacy. Gary volunteered with Meals on Wheels during his lifetime, and his grandson Nicholas also became a volunteer, even delivering meals alongside his grandfather on occasion. It was Nicholas who later conceived the idea of the golf tournament to honour Gary’s deep commitment to community service. Although the idea was first brought forward during the COVID-19 pandemic, it took a few years to come to fruition—making the success of this year’s tournament even more meaningful.

“He was a very salt-of-the-earth type of guy and really resonated with people from all walks of life,” shared Tim Dalliday. “To be able to have seniors stay in their homes and to have meals delivered at an affordable price was very important to him. So this cause was near and dear to him. He would have been very proud of what we’ve done and the money we’ve raised.”

The day was filled with excitement, from a lively putting contest hosted by the Peterborough Petes to a robust raffle featuring prize packs valued at over $500 each. All raffle prizes were generously donated by community partners, whose support ensured a spirited and successful fundraiser. A highlight of the live auction came when a signed Petes jersey, donated by Pete Dalliday, sparked a bidding war. The jersey’s namesake, former Petes star Konnor Smith, was in attendance and inspired the crowd with his presence, posing for photos with the winning bidder afterward.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, golfers, and the community, the tournament raised a record $20,000. These funds will help offset the cost of meals, provide subsidies for clients who are unable to pay, and support the delivery of meals to seniors and adults living with disabilities.

“This tournament is a beautiful reminder that Gary continues to care for our community, years after his passing,” said Chris LeBlanc, Director of Donor and Public Relations for Community Care Peterborough. “His life inspired countless people, and that inspiration is still making a difference today for clients who depend on Meals on Wheels.”

The tournament was made possible by the ongoing generosity of Title Sponsor Greg Walsh, owner of NAPA / Sidey Auto Parts, a longtime friend of Gary’s and an annual supporter of the event. Gold Sponsors included Anden Kitchen and Bath Centre, Imprinted Apparel, UA Local 401, and the Peterborough Petes Minor Hockey Association.

Celebrating 60 Years of Meals on Wheels:

This year’s tournament also coincides with the 60th anniversary of Meals on Wheels in the city and county of Peterborough. Since the official anniversary on October 24, 2024, Community Care Peterborough has been marking the milestone with a special storytelling series, 60 Stories for 60 Years, highlighting the people, moments, and memories that have shaped the program. Stories are published weekly and can be found on our website.

Community Care Peterborough extends its deepest gratitude to the Dalliday family for their partnership, to the staff and members of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club for hosting, and to all sponsors, golfers, and volunteers who ensured another sold-out and record-breaking tournament.
