Smile Cookies are back May 1st to May 7th!
April 18th, 2023

Community Care Peterborough (CCP) has been selected by local Tim Hortons restaurant owners to again receive proceeds from this year’s Smile Cookie Campaign at their Peterborough, Lakefield, Bridgenorth, and Curve Lake locations this May.

Normally, the Smile Cookie campaign takes place in September, by Tim Hortons across the County will now be running this annual campaign in May.  This year’s campaign starts on May 1st and will run until May 7th, 2023.  Locally, if you purchase a chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1.50 plus applicable taxes, the local Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners will donate the full $1.50 to Community Care Peterborough’s Give a Meal, Give a Drive initiative and its other important community support programs.

“Although we have many clients who do not struggle – we have an increasing number who do. Many more seniors and adults with disabilities are making difficult choices about cutting food costs or missing medical appointments to reduce travel costs in order to remain in their home,” said Alicia Vandine – Donor Relations and Communications Lead.  “To assist these clients, we created the Give a Meal and Give a Drive subsidy programs.  The dollars raised will help us fund this initiative along with the other important health support programs that also operate throughout the City and County of Peterborough.”

The Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996 as a way to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons Restaurants.    Last year, Tim Hortons sold a record-breaking number of cookies across Canada over $15M, and locally a record-breaking $92,608.26 was raised – which is something to smile about!

“We are so honoured to be selected again this year and our staff and volunteers teams will be working alongside the Tim Hortons teams to help with production again this year, icing cookies and answering questions in restaurants about Community Care.  We encourage the public to visit their local Tim Hortons during the new campaign week of May 1st to May 7th to purchase a Smile Cookie and maybe, we can even break last year’s record and sell 100,000 cookies!” added Vandine.

Members of the public can also pre-order a box of 12 cookies.  Visit CCP’s website www.commcareptbo.org to download a pre-order form that you can drop off at your local Tim Hortons restaurant.
