Peterborough County Transit Feasibility Study

Help Shape the Future of Transit in Peterborough County

We are studying public transit service across Peterborough County to understand what solutions are viable to provide new travel options for residents between our many towns, villages, landscapes, and communities. This study is looking at service options for all residents, including commuters, students, retirees, families, and anyone else looking for new ways to get around the County.

Community Care Peterborough, in close collaboration with partners in the County, is working to identify the needs and feasibility of enhancing public transit options across the County. Dillon Consulting Limited has been retained to complete this study in close collaboration with the following partners:

  • Township of Asphodel-Norwood
  • Township of Cavan-Monaghan
  • Township of Douro-Dummer
  • Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen
  • Township of North Kawartha
  • Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan
  • Township of Selwyn
  • Municipality of Trent Lakes
  • County of Peterborough
  • Curve Lake First Nation
  • Hiawatha First Nation

About the Study

This study will assess the feasibility of implementing a public transit service within the County. This project will look at connecting existing mobility options while identifying key mobility gaps in the County. The project partners seek to improve mobility for residents looking to access employment, education, shopping, healthcare, and social services in our communities. We will look closely at peer municipalities across Ontario to support this work.

The project team will be conducting a thorough review of existing transportation options, including The Link in Selwyn Township and Community Care Peterborough. Ultimately, the goal will be to understand the major travel needs within our communities and key local destinations, eventually developing a plan with sustainable solutions.

Get Involved!

Your feedback will play a key role in the development of this plan. We want to learn what residents expect from a potential public transit service, now and in the future. This includes how residents currently get around our community, where transportation gaps exist, and where local transit might take you in the future.

Over the next weeks and months, there will be public engagement opportunities to provide your feedback to the project team. This will include both online and in-person opportunities. Your ideas and contributions will be crucial in determining the most appropriate solutions for the many distinct areas of the County.
